The Lone Tree at Malham

I had always wanted to visit North Yorshire to explore locations. It was a very dull and rainy day, so I resigned myself to treating this trip as a recce even before I left.

A popular location is the lone tree on the limestone paving rock formation, so it was a place of interest that I had picked out to explore. Thankfully I did get a brief bit of light that lit up the limestone and the tree which did look rather dramatic against the dark clouds.

I also tried a landscape format image to see if the striations and fissures of the limestone emphasised the leading lines towards the lone tree.

I had seen many shots, better than mine of this location, but I decided to try a shot in the opposite direction from the lone tree and the rain clouds approaching.

Obviously, Toby my companion on my little excursions had to get in on the act like the little poser that he is. Great company.

I love getting out and about into the beautiful country side, planning my journeys to see these locations at their best.
Doing photography combines my need to be creative and I feel a tremendous amount of satisfaction when all the combinations come together andI have captured the feeling of the moment and created a lovely image.
