Everyone’s a Critic at Llyn y Gader
A chance to get out with Andy Green and Toby to do a bit of photography. The original intention was to head to the coast and I wanted to experiment with some ICM (Intentional Camera Movement). However, tide times were against us, so we decided to head out to Snowdonia. We hadn’t been to Llyn y Gader for a few years, so a return was well overdue.
The area is full of potential compositions. The image above and below felt good with the tree on the shore line, the shore line leading to the promontory and the mountains. Not much light to speak of, but there was colour in the late afternoon sky.
A landscape version of the above image. I’m not sure which version I prefer, but I do like the space in this one.
An upturned tree with mossy roots provided an unusual subject to explore.
The portrait version of the mossy roots probably works better with the curve leading the eye from bottom right to the top right.
Further along the shoreline I found a dead tree that I thought might make an interesting foreground object.
A simpler composition with the curve of the shore lines to lead the eye around the image.
The light on the hills behind was a bonus.obviously the main feature is the lovely, ruined stone cottage in a beautiful location.
Toby is a fantastic companion on these little photo adventures, but the cheeky scamp could not help express his opinion on a shot I was taking. “Everyone’s a critic!” :-)
