Ogwen Valley & Tryfan

It was lovely to catch up with my mate Andy for a spot of photography in Snowdonia. We first ventured on a route I had never been on before, around Capel Curig.
This was in the early afternoon and the light wasn’t that great, therefore the photos that I had taken were not brilliant.

Later on we decided to see if there were any other photographs to be taken around Tryfan. We ended up by the beginning of the Afon Ogwen, just before it goes under the bridge. I thought “Sod it!” and did a bit of tentative rock hopping to get the shot above.

I was hoping to use the little bits of water movement over the rocks to add a bit of foreground interest with Tryfan looming in the background.

Past the path that leads to Cwm Idwal, there is a little refreshments shop and public toilets. Carrying along that road takes you around to a view of Afon Ogwen, Tryfan and the surrounding mountains. That is where I decided to try this panorama. Thankfully I was getting some interesting light on the mountainsides.

The light didn’t quite play right with this image as I was hoping for a band of light to fall on Afon Ogwen and the trees to the right. However, I am reasonably happy with this shot and it is definitely a location that I will return to.

I love getting out and about into the beautiful country side, planning my journeys to see these locations at their best.
Doing photography combines my need to be creative and I feel a tremendous amount of satisfaction when all the combinations come together andI have captured the feeling of the moment and created a lovely image.
