A Return to Ynys Llanddwyn

Twr Mawr on Llanddwyn Island 26.02.2022

Because of the variety of shots to be had at Ynys Llanddwyn, it’s alway nice to return. The sea was still rough after Storm Franklin and wind was still strong. As a result Toby and I were more than a little sandblasted. The first shot I had in mind was to try and capture a composition with the St Dwynwen’s Celtic Stone Cross and Twr Mawr Lighthouse. I decided to get a bit further back and use a longer lens to create a bit of foreshortening.

The sea was still a bit wild due to the winds, so walking around the beach as the sun was getting lower, I decided to capture the above image with the rough waves, the ruin of St Dwynwen’s Church, the 1897 plain cross of St. Dwynwen and the top of Twr Mawr.

Above all, the enjoyment of the day was for Toby to run free and enjoy himself. This shot of him running back to me along the beach, as he spots me turn the camera towards him, makes me smile.

I love getting out and about into the beautiful country side, planning my journeys to see these locations at their best.
Doing photography combines my need to be creative and I feel a tremendous amount of satisfaction when all the combinations come together andI have captured the feeling of the moment and created a lovely image.
