Llanddwyn Island - Taking the popular shot.
Although I have visited Llanddwyn Island a few times over recent years, I have only taken this classic and overshot image once before. The fact that everyone tries to take this shot has been off putting, but the light was so lovely and Myself and Toby were quite happy just chilling out, that I decided to have another go. I am glad that I did.
I decided to do a few shots with my long lens trying to pick out interesting details. I quite liked the path leading to the memorial cross. Sadly there was no interest in the cloudless sky.
The tide was going out, but I was hoping for more wave movement. In which case I had intended to play about with some long exposures. But as it was reasonably still and the sky was cloudless I decided to just concentrate on the composition and hopefully return to this shot agin some day.
There were plenty of wild ponies on the island that was lovely to see. I was quite nice using them as a point not interest against the scenery.
I had to take this one as the pony on the left became curious as to what I was doing and looked straight into the camera.
Again it was quite nice just putting on the long lens and picking out details. Although there was some nice side light, it was still a few hours before golden hour and the promise of the whisky clouds were yet to appear.
As on most occasions, Toby accompanied me on this excursion and had a great time having his picnic and scampering through the forest and along the beach. A great companion to share my photography trips.
